The Bellweather Project

BACK TO THE INVESTIGATION

Stratis, Inc.

Privacy Policy

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 10, 2026

This policy explains what information Stratis, Inc. ("Stratis," "we") collects when you use The Bellweather Project website at bellweather.blog and the Tuner app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The Bellweather Project website documents an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Maren Calloway and the Resonance Points she documented; the Tuner app lets you locate and capture Resonance Points in the world around you.

You can read the investigation, solve puzzles, join discussions and theories, and use other parts of the website or app without sending us camera recordings, 3D / AR scan data, or precise location from recording a nearby Resonance Point, and without creating wallet credential records or Ecko transaction records.

If you choose to use the app to record a nearby Resonance Point, it will ask for the camera and location access needed for that experience. If you choose to use Ecko wallet features, the app will ask you to take the wallet-related steps needed for that experience.

1. What we collect

Depending on how you use the project, we collect the following:

  • Account information. Email address, display name, and (if you sign in through a third-party provider) the profile photo your sign-in provider returns. Some sign-in providers let you hide your real email; when that happens, we receive the relay address the provider gives us and treat it like any other email. Sign-in is handled through Stratis authentication and bridged to your Bellweather account.
  • Location. We collect precise location only when you choose to use the Tuner app to record a nearby Resonance Point. You can use The Bellweather Project website and the Tuner app to read the investigation, solve puzzles, join discussions, and use other parts of the website or app without giving the app precise location access.

When you use the app to record a nearby Resonance Point, it may collect location information during that process, including GPS points or a GPS path, a calculated center point, timestamps, and related location data. We do not collect location data when the app is closed.

  • Camera, AR scans, and captures. We use your phone's camera only when you choose to use the Tuner app to record a nearby Resonance Point. Before you begin, the app presents an in-app acknowledgement and gives you the choice not to proceed. If you do not begin recording a nearby Resonance Point, we do not receive camera recordings, 3D / AR scan data, or capture-derived spatial assets from you.

When you use the app to record a nearby Resonance Point, it may save and upload a short camera recording, selected frames or still images, 3D / AR spatial scan data, AR tracking data, camera calibration data, and related location and motion data. In this policy, we call these records and the related location data "captures."

  • Wallet credentials and transaction records. We collect wallet credentials and transaction records only when you choose to use Ecko wallet features. You can use The Bellweather Project website and the Tuner app to read the investigation, solve puzzles, join discussions, and use other parts of the website or app without using Ecko wallet features.

If you choose to use Ecko wallet features, the app may help you create a digital wallet secured by a passkey. We store a public key and credential identifier; we never receive your biometrics or private key. We may record your wallet address, Ecko balance, and Ecko transactions. Some transactions may be recorded on a public blockchain, where wallet addresses and transaction details can be public and cannot generally be changed, reversed, or deleted.

  • Phone number and call data. Some puzzles use real phone numbers. If you call one, we and our phone provider receive your phone number, the keys you press and things you say to the automated system, any voicemail or call recording, the time and length of the call, and the approximate area (such as city and state) the call comes from.
  • Community posts, comments, and replies. We collect blog comments, discussion thread titles and text, Correspondents' Circle thread titles and text, replies, mentions, and any text you add when you share an Echo to a discussion thread.
  • Puzzle answers and investigation responses. We collect answers, guesses, selected sequences, symbol entries, and other responses you submit through puzzles, decode challenges, or investigation features.
  • Files and attachments. We collect profile photos or avatars you choose to upload, images, PDFs, text files, spreadsheets, and other files you choose to attach to community posts, replies, puzzle responses, or other non-capture features. This does not include Tuner captures, which are described above under camera, AR scans, and captures.
  • Settings, preferences, and account state. We collect the settings, preferences, acknowledgements, privacy choices, notification choices, and account status records you create or change while using the website or app.
  • Game progress and participation records. We collect records of your progress and participation, such as Echoes you reveal, Anomalies or keepsakes you collect, Field Records or designations you earn, leaderboard-related records, activity-feed records, thread follows, reactions, and other participation records.
  • Reports and communications. We collect the information you send when you report content, contact support, respond to us, or otherwise communicate with us about the website, app, project, or your account.
  • Device, usage, and diagnostic data. We collect device, browser, app, installation, analytics, advertising-measurement, crash, error, performance, diagnostic, and interaction data related to your use of the website or app.
  • Notification data. If you opt in to notifications, we collect push tokens, notification preferences, and related notification delivery records.

2. How we use it

Depending on how you use the website and app, we use information for these purposes:

  • Running the website and app. We use information to sign you in, display content, save progress, operate puzzles and discussions, maintain your account, and support non-capture participation.
  • Operating, securing, and improving the website and app. We use information to maintain reliability, diagnose crashes and errors, measure usage, track app versions and active installs, deliver version-related notices, plan features, prevent fraud, abuse, spoofing, duplicate rewards, unauthorized access, or violations of our terms, and protect the project and its users.
  • Support, reports, and community moderation. We use information to respond to support requests, review reports, moderate community content, and remove material that violates our terms.
  • Finding and recording Resonance Points. When you choose to use the Tuner app to find or record a nearby Resonance Point, we use the information needed to show nearby Resonance Points, guide you to them, confirm field activity, maintain capture history, and award related progress or Ecko.
  • Captures and scan-derived assets. We use captures only when you choose to create them. We use capture data and related camera, location, AR, motion, and device information to verify captures, process captures into scan-derived spatial assets, build and operate the spatial map, and support Stratis contributor features.
  • Map, model, and spatial-feature development. For captures you choose to create, and subject to supported capture and scan-derived asset controls, we may use captures and capture-derived work to build, maintain, and improve spatial-map features, public or community features, 3D / spatial assets, and models, including through machine-learning or AI model training, development, and improvement.
  • Stratis spatial processing. When a capture you choose to create is processed through Stratis spatial features, we may route job-scoped capture data to Stratis-operated systems and permitted Stratis ECKO Miner nodes to generate scan-derived spatial assets, verify job completion, prevent abuse, and administer related Ecko rewards.
  • Optional Ecko wallet and transaction features. We use wallet credentials, wallet addresses, balances, transactions, marketplace activity, rewards, and related records only when you choose to use Ecko wallet, marketplace, reward, or contributor features.
  • Puzzle phone lines. When you choose to call or use a puzzle phone line, we use call data to operate the phone line and related puzzle mechanics.
  • Notifications. When you opt in to notifications or choose notification settings, we use notification data to send operational notices about your account, captures, activity, and the project.
  • Analytics and ad measurement. When you arrive from an ad, campaign, referral, or measured link, or complete an action we measure, we use limited analytics, campaign, conversion, and advertising-measurement information to understand how people find the project and how well our ads work.
  • Privacy requests and legal obligations. We use information to honor your capture use settings, privacy settings, account-deletion requests, legally required opt-outs, and other legal obligations.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some of the ad-measurement sharing described below may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under certain U.S. state privacy laws (such as California's). You can opt out of that sharing by emailing us at support@stratis.ai.

We share information only with the services and permitted processing systems we use to run the project, and only to the extent each one needs to do its job:

  • Cloud and service providers. These providers help us sign users in, host the website and app services, store data and files, send notifications, measure usage, diagnose crashes and errors, and maintain reliability.
  • Stratis-operated services. Stratis authentication handles sign-in. Stratis spatial services process and host calibration scans, capture records, Ecko rewards, and scan-derived spatial assets so you can control them through Stratis features. These are operated by Stratis, Inc.; they are not third-party advertisers or data brokers.
  • Permitted Stratis ECKO Miner nodes. Stratis may route capture processing jobs to permitted ECKO Miner nodes for spatial-map, marketplace, model-training, or other contributor features. These nodes receive only the job-scoped data needed to complete processing and are bound by terms that limit use of that data to the assigned Stratis processing job. Miner nodes are rewarded in Ecko for completed processing. They are not advertisers or data brokers.
  • Advertising and measurement partners. If you arrive from an ad or complete an action we measure, we may share limited install, sign-up, capture, campaign, conversion, or device-advertising-identifier information with advertising and measurement partners so they can measure and improve our ads. We do not share your name, email, or content with ad systems.
  • Wallet infrastructure providers and public blockchains. Wallet and Ecko transaction features may use wallet infrastructure providers and public blockchain networks. Anything written to a public blockchain, including wallet addresses and transaction details, can be public and permanent.
  • Phone service providers. Phone service providers power puzzle phone lines and may receive and store call details, recordings, the caller's phone number, approximate caller location, and related call records.
  • Map tile providers. Map tile providers serve the basemap tiles you see in the Tuner app. They receive the tile coordinates your device requests but no personal information.
  • Law enforcement and legal process. If we are required by law, court order, or valid legal process to disclose information.

4. People, property, and sensitive places in captures

Captures are made in real-world places, so they may incidentally include other people, faces, vehicles and license plates, signage, artwork, and private property that you do not own. Because those details can affect privacy and safety, do not use the Tuner app to capture, follow, monitor, harass, or surveil a specific person, or to make an identifiable person the subject of a capture.

You are responsible for choosing places that are safe, lawful, and appropriate to capture. Do not intentionally capture your home, where you live, the inside of any private residence, private property you do not own or have clear permission to capture, identifiable faces, license plates, other people's personal information, or sensitive places such as where someone lives, works, worships, receives medical care, or takes shelter. If you are not sure a place is appropriate to capture, skip it.

Our Terms of Service include additional rules, permissions, licenses, warranties, and responsibility terms for captures and scan-derived spatial assets. If you appear in, or own property shown in, a capture and want it removed or obscured, contact us at support@stratis.ai. You do not need a Bellweather account to make this request. We will review it and remove or obscure the content where appropriate, and we honor valid removal requests required by law.

5. Children

The Bellweather Project website and the Tuner app are intended for users 13 and older. They are not directed to children under 13, and we do not want, and do not knowingly allow, anyone under 13 to create an account or use the app. By using the website or app you confirm you are at least 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will close the account and delete the information. If you believe a child under 13 is using the website or app, contact us at support@stratis.ai and we will delete it.

6. Your controls, choices, and rights

Privacy rights. You can make privacy requests about the personal information associated with your account.

  • Access and export. You can request a copy of the data associated with your account by emailing support@stratis.ai.
  • Deletion. You can request that we delete your account and associated data at any time. See Account Deletion. Capture, spatial-map, blockchain, and legal-retention exceptions are described in "How long we keep it" below.

If you live in California, the EU, or the UK, you may have additional rights under your local law (including the right to object to or restrict certain processing). You can exercise any of these rights by emailing us.

Product and device controls. You can also manage supported capture, asset, and device-permission controls.

  • Capture and scan-derived asset controls. Our Terms of Service explain ownership of captures and scan-derived assets and the license you grant when you create a capture. This policy explains the privacy controls available for supported captures and scan-derived assets. You can manage those controls through the Stratis App or in your Stratis account at stratis.ai. Depending on the capture or asset and its processing status, those controls may let you review it, change its visibility, stop future map/model use, or delete scan-derived assets that are still available for deletion.

These controls affect supported future use. They do not change who owns your captures or scan-derived assets, and they do not undo processing already in progress or work already created from a capture, including map layers, scenes, Gaussian splats, machine-learning or AI models, completed miner jobs, blockchain records, or legal, fraud-prevention, accounting, or security records we are required to keep.

  • Device permissions and precise location. Camera and precise-location access are needed only if you choose to use the Tuner app to record a nearby Resonance Point. Before recording begins, the app presents an in-app acknowledgement and gives you the choice not to proceed. You can also revoke camera, precise-location, and notification permissions at any time in your device settings. If you revoke permissions or choose not to proceed, the capture part of the app will stop working, but you can still use the website and non-capture parts of the app. If your state gives you the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, you can ask us to limit our use of precise location by emailing support@stratis.ai.

Browser, analytics, and ad-measurement choices. These controls are managed through your browser or by request.

  • Cookies, analytics, and ad-measurement choices. You can control cookies and local storage through your browser settings. You can disable analytics for the website by using the analytics provider's browser opt-out tools. You can also ask us to opt you out of ad-measurement sharing that may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under certain U.S. state privacy laws by emailing support@stratis.ai.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, while your account is active, and as needed for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or security reasons. If you delete your account, we remove the personal information associated with it within 30 days, except for:

  • Captures and scan-derived assets. Captures and scan-derived assets may be retained for spatial-map, Stratis contributor, public/community, verification, reward, and related features. Supported scan-derived assets that are still available for deletion can be deleted through the Stratis App or in your Stratis account at stratis.ai while they remain available for deletion.
  • Derived outputs from captures. Map layers, scenes, Gaussian splats, machine-learning or AI models, completed processing jobs, and other work already created from captures may be retained indefinitely. Changing capture settings, deleting your account, or deleting supported assets does not remove work already created or learned from captures.
  • Blockchain records. Ecko transactions written to a public blockchain are permanent and cannot generally be changed, reversed, or deleted.
  • Records we must keep for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or security reasons.

Aggregated and de-identified data may be retained indefinitely.

8. Where we operate

Stratis, Inc. is based in Tampa, Florida, USA, and we process most of your information in the United States. There is one important exception: capture data used for Stratis spatial map, marketplace, model-training, or contributor features may be processed by permitted Stratis ECKO Miner nodes, which can be located anywhere in the world an ECKO Miner operates. That means capture data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries outside the United States, including places whose privacy and data-protection laws differ from your own and from ours. If you use the project from outside the United States, you also understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

9. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, plus access controls on who at Stratis can see what. No system is perfectly secure; if something happens that affects your data, we will tell you, not bury it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or via email.

11. Contact
